March and April in the Central Region

February 12th, 2015 by Maryland B&B Association

The Inn at Norwood and The Atlee House Bed and Breakfast offer guests easy access to some of Carroll County’s best events. The towns of Westminster and Sykesville not only host historical sites and museums, but also great shopping, restaurants, and events. March and April in our Central Region provide potential guests plenty of things to keep busy with.

Carroll County’s proximity to the Mason Dixon Line allowed for the county to have a historical and influential impact on the Civil War. The county offers both walking and driving tours that highlight this influence. Sykesville and Westminster also host several interesting museums and attractions for people to visit, including the Carroll County Farm Museum, Western Maryland Railroad Museum, Sykesville Gate House Museum, The Strawbridge Shrine, and the Sykesville Schoolhouse which was built in 1903.

The Carroll County Farmers Market Spring Fling begins March 21st and runs from 8am-2pm. The market features 75 Carroll County vendors, showcasing handmade crafts, home baked goods, and local produce. The farmers market is held at the Carroll County Agricultural Center in Westminster, MD. The Westminster Fire Hall is holding a coin and currency show on Sunday April 12th. The show runs from 9am-4pm and refreshments will be offered. The Westminster Fire Hall is located at 28 John St. in Westminster and admission and parking are free.

IMA World Health and McDaniel College are hosting The Local Goes Global: Homegrown Talent Healing the World Blues Concert on March 6th. The concert features the best local Carroll County musical talent and raises both money and awareness for global health emergencies. The show will feature blues, jazz, and tango artists such as Tim Jenkins, Jon Seligman, Alice Tung, Shelley Ensor, and Christopher James. Tickets to the show cost $25 and there is also a pre-concert reception that costs $50. The concert is being held at the Carroll Arts Center, located at 91 West Main St. in Westminster, MD.
